NCSoft Brings On Former EA/LucasArts/Zynga/Kabam Developer To Oversee All Western Development
We've heard of CEOs, CFOs, and COOs, but I can't say I've ever heard of a CDO. That's the new title for industry veteran Chris Corry, who was announced yesterday as NCSoft's Chief Development Officer, a newly created role that will see him "responsible for overseeing all development in the west."
That's a pretty all-encompassing role, one which might mean Corry will have an influence on Blade & Soul, Aion, Guild Wars 2, and WildStar, as well as the Lineage franchise. While his most recent jobs were at Kabam and Zynga, he's got a strong non-mobile, non-social media gaming background, judging by this biographical profile:
At EA Los Angeles, he was the development director of The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, senior development director of The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II and Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, and executive producer of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3.
That said, given the outstanding success of Lineage M in Korea, it wouldn't be surprising at all for Corry's main task to be replicating that success in the West.
