WoW Classic Players May Be Getting New Servers
Blizzard seems to hint at the possibility in a recent blog post.
Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges.
A recent post on the World of Warcraft site may indicate that fresh new servers will be available to WoW Classic players sometime in the future. Of course, this is one of those one-sentence mention kind of things with promises to provide actual details later. But, in addition to letting players know that the Overlord of Outland content update will be available September 15, the post also notes that they’re “working on something for WoW Classic players who’ve told [them] that they’d like a chance at a fresh start”. So, new servers seem like a good read on the issue.
In addition to the potential server news, the post also covers some general information regarding the upcoming WoW Shadowlands Update 9.1.5. This update is headed to the game’s PTR next week and, according to the post, contains a bevy of changes based on player feedback, including improvements to the ability to swap covenants and conduits. New character customization options are also being added for races that weren’t quite up there with the others.
This is also the update that will make several changes intended to “better reflect [their] shared values”. Seemingly, that includes adding a way for players to better see the in-game effects of harassment reports and offering “more serious penalties” for the people needing reporting.
