War Thunder Strives For "Photorealistic" Sky And Clouds
You probably don't pay that much attention to the sky when you're cruising around in War Thunder. Sure, it's nice, the interplay of the clouds and the sun, and all the vivid colors, but do you ever give it any real thought?
The programmers at Gaijin Entertainment certainly do, as they're preparing to pretty up the sky in their WW2 shooter, with the bold claim that it's "probably the best rendition of the sky that has ever been recreated in video games." They've got a video to show off the new tech and a blog post that probably tells you more than you ever wanted to know on the topic.
In addition to making things prettier, the upcoming changes to War Thunder will also allow for battles at various times of day and the sky will be
"astronomically correct which means that both the sun and the stars are correctly positioned in the sky according to latitude, time and the date (including polar nights and days) even the moon and constellations are positioned according to year, month, date and hour."
We hope Neil DeGrasse Tyson approves.
