War Thunder Rec and Strike UAVs

War Thunder, the military vehicular MMO by Gaijin Entertainment, will drop a major content update called "Age of Drones" in September. The patch will deliver reconnaissance and strike UAVs to amp up the tactical options for players using ground vehicles and add dozens of new tanks, aircraft, helicopters, and ships with new maps.

Drones will be instrumental in detecting and eliminating the enemy, but also are vulnerable to enemy fire. Gaijin explains they can be "shot down with small arms or 'locked-on' by radar from an anti-aircraft complex and destroyed with a missile." War Thunder's iteration will follow how drones operate in battles in the 21st century and their influence on the battlefield.

War Thunder UAVs

Modern light tanks in War Thunder will be able to launch small reconnaissance drones and the player can switch the UAV to display the location of enemy vehicles. Also, UAVs will have the battery power to patrol the entire battlefield until the end. The "sighting camera" on UAVs allows players to scout areas of interest, with some models equipped with thermal sights.

Age of Drones will introduce three types of attack drones: the Russian Orion, Chinese Wing Loong 1, and American MQ-1 which can be used while playing as any country except Russia and China. Additionally, each strike UAV carries anti-tank guided missiles.

As of now, there isn't an actual date for the patch release besides it dropping in September. To learn more about Age of Drones, check out the official War Thunder website.
