Upcoming Texas Chain Saw Massacre Game Will Only Use The Original 1974 Film, Not Later Movies
Gun Interactive say it's possible to get the rights for the others though, depending on the hype.
Don't skimp on the meat.
Friendly reminder. We have the interactive rights to the 1974 film. We can't put characters or locations in from other TX films because we don't have those rights.
Demanding we add them is not how Hollywood works. Licensing in general is usually a total mess.

According to Gun Interactive's CEO Wes Keltner, the upcoming Texas Chain Saw Massacre game will focus on the original 1974 film due to licensing issues with the later movies. On Twitter, he explained that the studio has the interactive rights for that movie only, not the other films, so the developers cannot use characters or locations beyond what’s in the original movie.

That being said, Keltner advised fans to get excited about what's available in the game and to generate buzz through social media and discussions. He also mentioned that while Mortal Kombat was able to use Leatherface, it was for a single character and not the full intellectual property. Obtaining rights to the other films is a possibility in the future though, depending on the hype and the willingness of Hollywood to work with the studio.
That’s one character not the full intellectual property. While still licensing it’s not exactly the same thing. You know?
