Ultima Online Adding Shared Inventory Space For F2P Players
If there's an article about inventory space in an MMO, you can bet that Magicman will assign it to me. So it is with today's news that Ultima Online -- yes, the game that launched in 1997 and just introduced a free-to-play option earlier this year -- will soon implement shared inventory space for players with multiple characters. Hallelujah!
Update 100 is in the bag and Update 101 is in the works, but between those two, Broadsword intends to add the Vault, which "provides storage of 125 items which is shared across all characters on a server." You'll have to buy your Vault storage in the cash shop, naturally, but otherwise, it should make swapping items between characters on a free account much simpler, since they can't own a house.
There are other details in this week's producer's letter, like finding event moderators for the Lake Superior shard, an upcoming summer promotional item, and a report on bans and other disciplinary action, but let's be honest -- the real news is the shared inventory space, right? Right?

Gameplay and storytelling are both important to RPGs. So how do devs weigh that?

So long, triple blink Tracer.
It would be so easy for game devs to place these as they could add special transportations to these island bases for f2p players from towns and who ever, even sub people can even have extra homes on the islands if they so wanted too.
This way no one in game feels left out.
Great idea
yeah I know :)
