Throne And Liberty Preps PvE Showcase For G-Star And Addresses P2W Concerns Again
G-Star will focus on showcasing more PvE than the "Showcase" stream did.
Last week we were shown a great deal of Throne and Liberty ahead of its December 7th release in Korea. While we still have a bit of a wait to get the Amazon Games version of the MMORPG here in the west, it's been nice seeing the team at least address concerns players have brought up in testing.
Whether it's the adjustment of combat, the removal (kind of) of auto-hunting, or even the accusations of "P2W" (pay-to-win), the NCSoft team has spoken or modified things on each topic.
The newest Producer's Letter now sets the stage for the upcoming G-Star event, what you can expect from Throne and Liberty at the show, and, once again, attempts to assure players that P2W is being strongly avoided.
First, the P2W update. Producer Jong-ok Ahn thanks players for their showcase feedback and points out that PvP isn't as "forced" on players as their demo may have looked. While on the topic of PvP, Ahn brought up the whole P2W debate and used Toys as the example. While toys can be collected in-game and are a replacement for mounts, some of them have abilities depending on terrain once enhanced that could be advantageous for players to have...toys can also be purchased.
Ahn reiterated that largely only optional cosmetic skins for the toys can be purchased, and some toys can be purchased to fill your colletion, but they won't provide an advantage. There are also a few restrictions on the benefits of having a more robust colletion of these toys so that buying toys to fill yout collection won't add new advantages either. Check out the post linked above for those restrictions.
Second, G-Star! PvE will be the show this time around with the team planning on showing off a 1-player dungeon, a 6-person dungeon, and a guild raid. If you thought the previous showcase may have focused too much on PvP, then the G-Star showing should be exactly what you want to see.
