The Cycle Of Recurring Events Continues As Rift's Budgie Days Races Kick Off
Why does Rift only run these recurring events over one weekend each time?
As best as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a certain "locked in" cadence for the return of past events in Rift. Any time the F2P MMORPG feels like running one of its recurring events, they just do it. I found this out because the Budgie Races are back this weekend. If you haven't gathered all the rewards your Chaos Motes can earn you from the event, you have until April 14th to get them.
I went scrolling back through the official site to see when the last time the beautiful birds were here as I felt like it couldn't possibly have been a year ago that I wrote about them last. I was right. The Budgies were back this past December. Oh...okay. Maybe this event comes every four months then. Nope, the time prior to December was in October. Scrolling way back, I find that the Budgies, counting this weekend's event, have returned six times in the last year. It isn't on a consistent schedule, though.
Weird. Also weird is the fact that all of the game's events only run for a single weekend and they come with almost no advanced notice. Literally, the event's post goes up (in most cases) on the day the event starts.
Maybe it's a good thing they just keep recycling them.
Anyway, if you want to race some birds around for prizes, head to Meridian, Sanctum, or Tempest Bay to get things going. During the race, make sure to hit those boost pads, but don't miss any checkpoints. Cross the finish line to earn Chaos Motes and take them to the vendor for rewards. Easy.
