More Talents, Better Gear, And Companions All Added In A New Space Punks Update
Today marks the release of Space Punks' first real update and some important changes have been implemented. The biggest changes involve the addition of new talents, weapon upgrades, and the return of companions.
The update makes big changes to the talent system, breaking the tree into three branches -- offensive, utility, and defensive -- and adding more talents to them for a total of 126. Twenty-eight of these are item talents. Players can choose to focus on any of the three branches or combine them to create the playstyle that's just right for them.
As for gear upgrades, players can now upgrade weapons at the Black Market. Yes. It does cost money. And, yes. There is a limit on how high you can go. Otherwise, they'd have no reason to add better, more powerful weapons to the game.
As for the companions, players can find them in the Premium Store.
Other changes include moving some stuff around in the station, like NPCs, and adding some useful furniture to really pad things out. NPCs now have their own music, too. The update also fixes teleportation, various crashes, and a whole bunch of other things as well.
Prior to today's patch notes, the Space Punks steam dropped a bit of a preview on Reddit. While there, they answered a few player concerns that weren't addressed in the post -- and some of which didn't make it into the patch notes. In a few cases, the answers were simply, "we're passing (have passed) this onto the team." But for those wondering about servers in regions that don't already have them, it seems the answer is that there aren't plans for any more at the moment, but that they'll let players know if things change.
