SWTOR's Q1 Producer's Letter Talks New Rewards, But Defers On The Story Front
It feels more like an ad.
As the first quarter of the calendar year draws to a close today, Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) has released its Q1 Producer's Letter and, honestly, it just isn't much to write home about. As Troy wrote about in a recent piece on the MMORPG, there's been a bit of a dry spell in story content since Broadsword took over. Yes, there's been story content added, it just hasn't been all that "meaty," and the updates are having larger gaps between them.
Today's letter really isn't doing itself any favors on that front. Initially, the letter talks about this past weekend's PTR additions and the upcoming Master Mode of Relentless Replication on said PTR. The bulk of the letter, however, really focuses on in-game rewards. Whether those are Twitch Drops currently on offer, or rewards that will be available via you having a subscription and logging in on (or near) this year's Star Wars Day. That celebration will be in Japan this year, but the MMO will not be holding a Cantina there.
There are additional sales and events announced for May 4th, too.
That's really all that's covered, though. The team is planning a stream to reveal some of Update 7.7 in early May, but on the "moar story content" front, the team just says, "The team has not stopped working on our story updates! We shared details about "Galactic Threads" in the 7.6 livestream, and are looking forward to sharing a glimpse of "Master's Enigma" in the 7.7 livestream. We know story is a vital part of what makes SWTOR so special, and we're eager to release these updates as soon as we can."
I don't know about you, but the post feels more like a pitch to sub up, watch SWTOR streams, and maybe spend some money than it does an actual update from the team. Sure, some of the items look great, but none of it "tells me what's coming" like these letters should.
Kind of a disappointing letter. Maybe it's just me?

If you've ever held off due to box fees, it probably won't get cheaper than this.

Why does Rift only run these recurring events over one weekend each time?

No rules, no stipulations. You get 1 movie IP as an MMO, which is it and why?

The game is coming to both Xbox and PlayStation and will feature cross play and cross progression.
