SWTOR 7.6 Update, Complete With Graphics Updates And PvP Season Changes, Drops Tomorrow
Downtime is estimated at 5 hours due to the team releasing inactive names.
Tomorrow is launch day for Star Wars: The Old Republic's 7.6 patch, and the MMORPG is making a few changes to PvP Season 14 "Path to Mastery" in addition to all the other additions we've previously reported here on MMOBomb.
One of the more interesting updates in 7.6 is the game's graphical update. Now, don't misunderstand, this isn't some massive revamp across the entire galaxy. However, it isn't exactly a small update and it will lead to future updates along these same lines. In 7.6, expect to see environments, textures, and lighting all getting upgraded. Initially this will be most visible in starting zones, but it will expand to encompass the entire game. Notably, characters (and their heads) are getting graphic improvements, too.
The video below from our previous post shows off some great before and after images.
PvE players get the new "Dynamic Encounters" content bringing random events to the world and a new lair boss. Just don't forget, the story portion of this update isn't ready yet so we won't see that until January.
For PvP players, we already knew that pre-made groups of 8 are no longer going to be a thing. You'll only be able to make 4-person groups now. However, we've received more info on all the other PvP changes thanks to a new blog post.
In addition to the group size change, your set bonuses from level 75 Spoils of War gear is breaking things, so they'll no longer be active in PvP. The new season will run for 16 weeks with free and preferred players getting 4 weekly objectives and subscribers netting 6. Rewards this season include the Honorable Bow emote, shown above, and new armor and decorations. Check out the blog for pictures and a list of all vendor items available this season.
