Swords Of Legends Online Becomes Exactly That, A Legend, As Shutdown Is Announced
It's been literal MONTHS since the game received an update that wasn't just new cosmetic items.
When Swords of Legends released, the MMORPG seemed to be one of the few games receiving updates almost every other week. I remember getting press releases like clockwork on new dungeons and new raid difficulty tiers being added all the time.
That ended last year, with the most recent notable content update being as far back as August/September of 2022. Since then, the game's news pages have basically just been update after update on items being added to the cash shop. We also basically stopped receiving ANY press releases from the game's team at that same time.
It is perhaps not surprising in any real "fashion" then to see that the MMORPG is officially shutting down... and soon.
June 30th marks the end of the road for the game as Gameforge says, rather bluntly, that they just don't have the player numbers to support the game, even after making the game free-to-play in update 2.0 last March.
If you happen to live in an area where the game is published by its developer, Wangyuan Shengtang Entertainment, you still will not be able to migrate your Gameforge account due to privacy laws.
You cannot buy cash shop currency anymore, but many items are on deep sale for you to use up any currency you do have right now. No word on any potential refunds was given, nor is that topic addressed in the shutdown's FAQ.
