Summer Games Fest Bringing Together Over 55 Partners To Showcase New Titles On June 7th
Some, but not all, of the attending partners have been revealed.
Perhaps unbelievably, it is almost that time of year again. Summer Game Fest will kick off their annual show with their Summer Game Fest Showcase on Friday June 7th. While the event will be held live at the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park (tickets available here if you'd like to catch the show in person), you'll be able to catch all the announcements and reveals courtesy of YouTube, Twitch, and other partners starting at 5 PM EST.
This year's slate includes over 55 partners and, while we don't know the entire list of companies in attendance yet, a "Round 1" reveal of attendees shows Amazon Games, SEGA, 2K, EA, Bandai Namco, Epic Games, PlayStation, Xbox, and Riot Games to be among some of the larger companies showing off what's coming in gaming.
In a year plagued by studio closures, layoffs, acquisitions, and more, it'll be interesting to see how many of these companies dodge harder questions in favor of simply splashing a big shiny on screen and getting off the stage as fast as they can.
The "Days of the Devs" presentation that follows the showcase should be a bit more interesting, hopefully, on the industry front given that it is meant to "celebrate the creativity, diversity and magic of video games, giving a voice to emerging or underrepresented talent with platforms that connect players with developers, and their games."
Will we see Blue Protocol news from Bandai Namco? How about Throne and Liberty news from NCSoft? Will NEXON bring The First Descendant to the show given it is scheduled to release this summer?
We'll have to wait and see, so get those calendars marked now.
