Stars Reach Kickstarter Launch Date Announced Following Successful Playtest
The test allowed the developers to compare two builds and see player responses.
Playable Worlds is finally ready to kick off the Kickstarter for its sci-fi MMORPG Stars Reach. The campaign was originally planned to start earlier in the month, but the developer decided to postpone it a bit in order to allow for more testing with more players before beginning to take people’s money.
Just last week, a round of testing took place, running from February 11 to February 15. During the period of February 11-14, players tested an older build. On February 15, the devs dropped a new build featuring several improvements including a new planet, quality-of-life improvements, and more. Doing this allowed the developers to see how players responded to the updates and it seems the response was good.
In the post, they note that players “loved the new environment” of the new map. Veteran players are noted as having provided feedback on tool access and the devs are excited that new streamers shared the game with others. Overall, it was pretty successful.
In fact, it seems they thought it successful enough to go ahead and announce a Kickstarter launch date. If you’ve been waiting to throw your money at the game, you can do so beginning February 25. The page is already live, so you can ask Kickstarter to notify you the minute the campaign launches.
