Setting The Stage For Janthir Wilds, Guild Wars 2 Releases A Story Sneak Peek
The preview kind of contains light spoilers, so be careful if you want to go into the expansion 100% spoiler free.
We've only got a little over a month to go before Guild Wars 2 releases their new expansion, Janthir Wilds, on August 20th. When the MMORPG's new content opens up, players will have a whole new world to explore and future updates will add even more to take on.
But what exactly is going on these days now that the threats faced in Secrets of the Obscure are subdued? We're glad you asked as the dev team, specifically Indigo (Narrative Lead) and Chloë (Story Design Lead for Janthir Wilds), just posted a blog getting the stage set for how things will go down.
While I won't be posting spoilers here, the post itself could be considered to have some light spoilers in it. These spoilers mainly focus around the conclusion of Secrets of the Obscure, so I'll skip the synopsis part of that. Let's just leave it at this: Janthir Wilds picks up right at the end of Secrets of the Obscure and we really have to start questioning some of the decisions made throughout the previous expansion.
We'll be doing this with the help of the "Tyrian Alliance", a group ArenaNet is staying a bit quiet about for now. They do tease a bunch of guest appearances, though.
Our first task in the new expansion will be to head off into Janthir on a bit of a diplomatic mission. We'll be moving further north shortly after that, checking out the isles, learning about their (sometimes tragic and bloody) history, and yeah, there will be bears. IFKYK.
I'll cut the recap there as that sets the stage enough for those that want to go into Janthir Wilds with a clean slate, but check out the official blog if you want just a bit more of a preview.
