Rift EU Shutting Down Yet Another Server, This Time The PvP Crowd Is Losing Bloodiron
But hey, go play on a PvE server.
Rift EU is merging yet another server. Announced on X and posted on the official site, the MMORPG will shut down the Bloodiron server on September 30th. You can move your character now for free to one of three servers; Brisesol, Brutwacht, or Typhiria.
Just from my own personal recollection of playing on EU servers with friends, if you're looking for a larger audience and a player base using mostly English, you probably want to pick Typhiria. Current EU Rift players can correct me in the comments if that recommendation is not quite accurate these days. It's been a while.
Your transfer will obviously be free, but you need to complete it before the 30th. The post is kind of vague on this, but it seems like if you fail to move by that date, your character may be just...well...gone. From the post, "Characters that are not transferred to Brisesol, Brutwacht or Typhiria before September 30, 2024, will become unavailable, and regular play will not be possible." It does not mention being able to move them upon your next log in if that's after the 30th.
If you have more than 14 characters and you try to transfer them all to the same shard, you'll lose those extra characters, too. Be careful.
It's probably no surprise that the team is doing this based on player counts. "Our goal is to make it easier for players in the European region to find fellow Ascended and embark on new adventures together," reads the post.
Interestingly, this move gives you 3 options for your new home, but all of them are PvE servers, so get bent PvP players. No home for you anymore.
