Once Human Is Doing A Lot Of "Clarifying", This Time About How Seasons Work And What Carries Over
The team's first post on the topic ahead of launch left players confused about what carries over.
No one likes playing a game for hours on end just to have their progress wiped out by an arbitray "season reset." When Once Human dropped it's initial information about how the survival game's seasons would work, there was quite a bit of confusion. Some progress and items carried over, some didn't, but the rules weren't clear. Just like the team had to clarify its privacy policy, now Once Human finds itself clarifying once again. This time regarding said seasons.
The post on the official site breaks down a few common questions I've been seeing both in game and on the game's social media. First, how long is a season? While the current season is 6 weeks, subsequent seasons will be shorter or longer based on the scenarios presented in each season. What do I mean by "scenarios"? Well, right now, it's hard to see the difference since the current servers all have the same scenarios running, the only difference is PvE or PvP.
Future seasons will differ, though. Individual servers could have different scenarios running each season. The thought process behind this from the team is that it provides more ways to play, more stories, and even more locations on the map to explore and players can choose which scenario best suits how they would like to play.
Each season you will reset to level 1 though. Your World Map exploration also resets. This guarantees that all players start a season on a level playing field.
Now on to what rolls over. Most of your important items carry over from season to season no matter what scenario or rules are set on the server you select. Things like your Starchroms and other important currency, gear blueprints, non-Memetic furniture blueprints, and your main story progress all carry over. In some cases, depending on the season's transfer rules, you may be able to take materials and ammo into the new season.
It is a bit confusing and I think it'll be one of those things we just have to see once to understand. Check out the full post for all the details.
