Next Guild Wars 2 Living World Chapter Coming In January
2019 wasn't the best year for ArenaNet, but the Guild Wars 2 developer is choosing to focus on the good from the passing year while looking forward to the next. Today's blog post highlights the best parts of GW2 in 2019, including the defeat of the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik and the start of a new Living World chapter. Oh, and players were knocked out 63 million times, which sounds like about what I managed by myself in 2015. Thanks, Tangled Depths.
The next big thing (literally) coming to the game is the next installment of the Living World, Shadow in the Ice, which arrives on Jan. 28. It carries the tagline "something big is coming" and the teaser trailer doesn't appear to be the only thing that's embedded ...
Also on the docket for Q1 2020 are balance updates for PvP and WvW, Swiss tournaments for PvP, the Lunar New Year celebration, and a new type of Living World content, Visions of the Past. That's described as "a story that will take you out of the commander’s shoes and give you a new perspective on Ryland Steelcatcher." The post also contains personal insights from various members of the dev team, including what they're excited for in the coming year, which includes a bit more on the first Visions of the Past content, Steel and Fire. It sounds like you'll be in a flashback-like event, assuming the role of one of Ryland's warband. The charr are the best race, hands-down, so it makes sense that ArenaNet would help more people play as one.
