Smack Them With Void Magic: New World Update Introduces Void Gauntlet Weapon
The powers of the void can be used to harm or heal.
A new update dropped in New World today and while there’s plenty in the way of balance changes and bug fixes, it also introduces a bit of new content. Specifically, the update adds a new weapon type and some new enemies. The weapon has a bit of a sinister name but as it turns out, the Void Gauntlet is a support weapon that can be used to both provide support to your allies or destroy your enemies. It features a unique trait in that it scales on both Intelligence and Focus and can be easily paired with other magical weapons.
Those who pick up the Void Gauntlet will find it has two mastery trees – Annihilation and Decay. These will allow them to use their newly-acquired Void magic in two different ways. The former is all about damage at close range and makes use of a summoned blade of corrosive void energy. The latter deals with ranged healing and debuffs and uses a dual-phase projectile capable of doing both.
On the new enemy front, the update introduces the Varangian Knights, a group of knights invading Southeastern Aeternum. The knights are there with their leader Commander Attalus at the behest of Varik “The Hammer” Iznov who has them looking for magical artifacts and other items left behind by the Crimson Sorcerer. During their travels in Southeastern Aeternum, players will encounter Varangian Knights of all types, including scouts, archers, and more.
As for the rest of the content in this update, new PvP faction missions have been added, several bugs have been fixed, and a lot of AI tweaking has been done. The fine details on all of these are available in the latest set of patch notes on the New World site.
