New World Server Transfers Are Slowly Rolling Out Following This Morning’s Update
The update also fixes several important issues.
Today is the day. Server transfers are happening, or rather they will be happening shortly if you’re not on one of the AP Southeast servers.
Now, before you get upset that these servers are getting to transfer before yours, just know that they’re the guinea pigs for the whole system. Rather than letting everyone transfer and breaking everything at once, Amazon decided to run a couple of tests – first with the Utopia server and then, if that worked out, the rest of the AP Southeast region. Then, approximately 8 hours after that, if there haven’t been any issues, transfers are enabled for everyone. As of this writing, Sydney and South America just went up for transfers, so things seem to be going okay so far.
As best I can tell, we’re getting close to hitting those time limits, so transfers should be rolling out for the rest of you very soon.
If you’re planning on using the server transfer feature, there are probably things you’ll want to know – all those little bits of housekeeping that always come with transfers like how to handle inventory, whether or not you’ll keep quest progress, and if you can remain in your company. Amazon’s provided an FAQ with everything you need to know, so definitely read through it before you make a move. Speaking of which, if you’re not sure which server you’d like to transfer to, they’ve also put together a handy list of servers by population.
Of course, the update doesn’t only implement server transfers. It also makes adjustments and fixes several issues, including one that allowed players to become invincible by dragging around the game client when in windowed mode. A list of all those changes is also available in the patch notes.
Oh, yes. Amazon is also offering players a bit of a reward for sticking it through while all these queue issues have been going on. This is made up of two things, a new in-game title, “The Stoic”, and a “Waiting” emote. The former can be found in the Bio tab under the Character menu. The latter is in the in-game store, but is free.
