New World Devs Talk Combat Balance, Mounts, Season Content, And Answer Some Brutal Fan Questions
The latest Forged in Aeternum episode opens with a bang, to be sure.
This month's episode of New World: Forged in Aeternum is up and in it the devs answer some interesting questions.
The show opens with a question about PvP and combat balances in general, and the team says they have been overly cautious and slow with combat balance changes in the past, and that they want to be more aggressive with those changes in the future. They also reiterated a previous statement that not everything planned for this year made it on the roadmap.
When it comes to the Season Pass, they highlighted the model of producing new content every three months and how it is an optional choice to buy the premium pass. There are some housing items on the Season Pass, and they are open to feedback on things like music sheets being on the pass.
They also touched on mounts and why it took 2 years. They said that mounts will not be basic, will feature as a core part of the game, and will come with a skill line to improve riding. I'm particularly excited for mounts in New World and am glad to hear they won't be just basic low-effort content.
Two final questions that were informative were that the dev team is very committed and positive that they can produce season content every three months, and that the transmog system will allow you to equip any skin on any piece of gear. You can be wearing medium armor, but use a heavy skin in transmog.
