New World Devs Talk About Leaderboards And The Shell Company Problem
Leaderboards are coming tomorrow and New World listened to player feedback.
In the latest "Forged in Aeternum" video, New World devs are discussing the new Leaderboards feature, slated to release February 7th, what changes they've made over what we saw in the PTS, and how they should generate fun competitive play and not exploit self-centered player behaviors.
One big change is to the Outpost Rush leaderboards, which were initially centered on player score, making individual achievement worth more than team wins. Now total wins will be the ranking on the leaderboard, making cooperative team play the most important aspect.
As far as wars, they don't really seem to know what to do with it on the leaderboards, so it's just being removed for now.
They also discuss their changes geared toward reducing the effectiveness of shell companies when it comes to territory control, and how they believe those efforts have garnered success.
