NCSoft Sells Blade & Soul Cosmetics To Help Fund Regional Championship Prize Pool
Want to contribute to the Blade & Soul e-sport scene? Surprised that there is a Blade & Soul e-sports scene? Well, now's your chance!
NCSoft is currently selling two premium packs of cosmetic gear for Blade & Soul, with proceeds going toward the the prize pool for the North American Regional Championship Sept. 3 at PAX West in Seattle. The Heart of the Golden Lotus is a once-per-account pack that includes the 1920s-themed Speakeasy Costume set and Peacock weapon skin, as well as the "Fringe Contender" title. If your tastes run more toward lockboxes, you can try your luck with the Golden Lotus Chest for a chance at the Shadow Phoenix costume, Sacred Oils, Sealed Xanos Disks, and other loot.
Until July 19, all proceeds from the Heart of the Golden Lotus pack and 40% from the Golden Lotus Chests go toward the prize pool, up to a total of $400,000. Curiously, though, NCSoft lists milestones past the $400,000 mark, with no word of how that money will be raised. In fact, the website even says that the base prize pool is $60,000.
Even stranger, if you read the fine print at the bottom of the screen, it warns that
"If you participate in this offer, you are not eligible to participate in the Blade & Soul Regional Championship."
So does that mean that if I want to play in the regional, I can't buy the costumes or any of the lockboxes? My Blade & Soul championship dreams, they are shattered!
