NCSoft Hits Moon Rover Games With A $3.5 Million Investment To Support Co-Op Action Game, "Project Aldous"
Moon Rover Games was founded by veterans of Far Cry and The Division.
Moon Rover Games, a development house based in Sweden and founded by gaming development veterans from games like Battlefield and Far Cry, just got a bit of a financial boost to its development of "Project Aldous." What is Project Aldous besides maybe a reference to writer and philosopher Aldous Huxley? Good question.
So far we know that it is a co-op action game that is being developed by a smaller team that has big design ambitions. Moon Rover is trying to stay small so each team member feels valuable (and costs are lower, of course) but still maintain a high bar when it comes to their ideas for "emergent multiplayer gameplay".
The investment could lead to future investments from the global gaming company as NCSoft is the sole participant in the early seed round of funding and they is looking to grow alongside Moon Rover and possibly make future investment in other projects. NCSoft is also talking with Moon Rover about the possibility of publishing projects.
NCSoft feels the partnership adds diversity to their gaming portfolio and NCSOft co-CEO Byungmoo Park said, "In our search to forge new business opportunities, we are actively exploring studios with specialized genre expertise and strong development capabilities. Moon Rover Games stands out with its profound experience in the FPS genre and innovative approaches."
CEO of Moon Rover, Julien Wera, added that the investment will "enable us to combine the experience and ambitions of our team with the vast knowledge of NCSOFT in the development and operations of online games, to bring new gameplay experiences to players around the world."
Now we just to to actually SEE what the team is working on!
