NCSoft Is Apparently Developing A Horizon MMORPG (With Sony's Blessing)
Project Skyline, or "Land of Salvation," is reportedly not being developed by Guerrilla Games.
Did you enjoy Horizon Zero Dawn and/or Horizon Forbidden West but wish these games were multiplayer?
According to recent findings by self-proclaimed “video game researcher” Kurakasis (@Kurakasis on Twitter) and reported by Eurogamer, an MMORPG set in the Horizon franchise is indicated to be in development. The game, tentatively titled "Land of Salvation," is apparently being developed under the codename Project Skyline — previously known as Project H.
Job listings from an NCSoft employee on LinkedIn revealed the game's development, showcasing a logo stylized similarly to the Horizon games. The project, led by Hong-Young Choi in the Lineage IP division, commenced around 2021, involving approximately 140 people as of September 2023.
Land of Salvation/Project Skyline is expected to be released on PC and mobile platforms, with no mention of a PS5 version. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, it is anticipated to launch after the company’s upcoming mobile MMORPG Aion 2 — which is set for release in 2024 or 2025. This revelation also follows a partnership between Sony and NCSoft, aiming to expand beyond consoles and broaden PlayStation's reach into mobile gaming.
(Just to further clarify, this game is allegedly being developed by NCSoft, not Guerrilla Games.)
Everything I have found about Horizon MMO (MMORPG to be precise):
The game is now essentially confirmed to be in development, as an NCSoft employee posted a job listing on LinkedIn with a codename logo stylized similarly to the logo of Horizon games.
