My Favorite MMORPG Halloween Event Is Back, The Mad King Returns To Guild Wars 2

There's probably one event that's more "well-known" to MMO players, but this is still my favorite.

Sure, World of Warcraft probably has the most well-known Halloween event in MMORPGs with the Headless Horseman. In my book, though, Halloween in MMOs REALLY begins when Guild Wars 2 drops the Mad King event, and today's the day.

Shadow of the Mad King 2024 runs until November 5th and yes, the Mad King's Clock Tower jumping puzzle is back. I can't give Jason Winter crap on this one anymore, he did finally beat it. If you're having problems, there's a "Stopped Tower" variant you can complete.

Other returning features include a decorated Lion's Arch with the Mad King playing "Mad King Says" (Simon Says), the Mad King's Labyrinth and the Ascent to Madness fight with the Mad King, and additional races and minigames are all over the place.

In your travels, make sure to stop by the homesteads of your friends and fellow guilds. Ring a bell at each location for additional trick or treat bags and daily/weekly achievements. The Wizard's Vault is bursting with Halloween-themed challenges, pointing you toward all the eerie activities on offer. Collect that astral acclaim and claim your well-earned rewards.

There are a ton of rewards to be had for all the candy corn you collect. Hit up the official blog to learn everything you need to know. You should have an invite in your in-game mail to get you started, just remember that a lot of the event is in Lion's Arch, too.
