It's a bird, it's a plane, nope it's the closed beta date for Marvel Heroes! Gazillion Entertainment, the studio behind the free-to-play MMO Marvel Heroes, announced that the closed beta for the game is set to begin on October 1st.

Gamers can sign up now for a chance to get early access to Marvel Heroes by visiting their official site here.

For those unfamiliar with Marvel Heroes, it is an action oriented MMO by David Brevik, who has worked on a couple of games you may have heard of... Diablo and Diablo 2! Marvel Heroes aims to combine the core game-play style of Action RPG's and MMOs with the hero lineup of the Marvel Universe. Some notable heroes include Iron Man, Thor, Wolverine, Hulk, Spider Man and more. Players must team up and try to stop Doctor Doom from devastating the world with the power of the Cosmic Cube (is it the allspark?). The story itself is hand crafted by comic-book writer Brian Michael Bendis.

You can view the new gameplay trailer above. A Diablo-esque superhero game certainly sounds intriguing. What is your take on it? Let us know!

Honestly, I hated DC universe but I love Ultimate Alliance. So Ultimate Alliance MMO seems like a match made in heaven. I can only hope for gamepad control, but it might be more like Diablo than anything else. Oh well, cheers.

I'm geeking out about this game. Many people are griping about not being able to make their own superhero (like DC Universe Online), but lets face it...I just do NOT have the creative ability to design better super heroes than the marvel greats (ie. spiderman, ironman, cap, Hulk, FF, etc.). So i am sooooo looking forward to playing with actual marvel heros, both for myself, and in teams/fellowships/guilds. I'm even excited about the possibility of playing in a group and there are like 5 hulks or 8 spidermans. As for as success of those kinds of groups go...i don't know if they would work, but as far as the marvel universe goes, that's right up their ally. How many times have dimensions been crossed or melded only to find ourselves staring at a group of spidermen, or other sets of X-men, or even Hulks, and yes we are even used to having 2 Captain Americas.

This game has everything it needs to be a success. I am going to excitedly play this game until the gameplay itself proves unworthy of the name MARVEL.

From the trailer it doesn't really look too great but I would still give this a try. I just hope I can run it. So far my computer hasn't been able to run any super hero games. I couldn't run city of heroes, dc universe, or whatever that other super hero game is called that was a big hit awhile back. From the trailer though I would have to say my computer has a pretty good chance of being able to run it. Let's just hope I'm right.

If this was the first trailer that you saw it's easy to misunderstand the graphics. It's actually birds-eye perspective or top-down as they call it. Graphics really don't need to be any better when the camera is so far away.

With that said, i love that perspective in games but it is in no way appropriate for a superhero game. It doesn't feel right constraining spiderman or ironman on a flat horizontal plane. I'm not a fan of the idea. On the other hand, they do have Ultimate Alliance in the background and distancing them self from the DC Universe comparisons (as much as they can, considering..) is probably a healthy move so it might not have been a bad decision .

I see a lot of people being sheep, I'll give it a good try when it comes out.
Defiantly looking forward to playing this game, loved ultimate alliance myself.
If this game is more in-depth than that we got something good, also Jubilee needs to be in or else.
>:)

I'll play it because it's a Marvel game, but I was hoping for something more lie DC Universe Online or even Champions Online.
