Looks like Gameforge Needs A Game Designer...For A Cryptocurrency Game
The play-to-earn game model is slowly creeping into view across the industry.
Today, Gameforge announced that their Internal Studio is hunting for a full-time Game Designer to join their ranks to make a new free-to-play online mobile game. On the plus side, the employee will design the game from scratch with a hybrid work schedule, but they'll likely spend most of their time scheming up a cryptocurrency economy rather than contributing to fun game mechanics.
With the Senior Game Designer at the studio, the role will focus on modeling the game's economy across multiple currencies (tokenomics), sinks, and different game modes. The primary vibe of said economy is supposed to complement the fun gameplay and reward players with a play-to-earn experience for long-term contributors. Following that responsibility, the Game Designer will help balance PvP and PvE, design the UI with a robust UX experience to heighten usability on mobile devices, and create detailed documentation in Confluence.
Despite the excitement of fully developing a game from scratch, it's clear that the focus of Gameforge is to gain the interest of the NFT population. Most of the skills of the aspiring applicant even mention knowing crypto gaming and NFTs. Could it be fun? Sure.
But when you have to understand the macro and micro levels of the economy, know pricing theory, and craft statistics to benefit a play-to-earn system, it seems like a model that doesn't serve as a fun experience you can pick up and play on a whim, but rather systems trying to suck time and money out of players. But hey, maybe Gameforge could be making THE game that makes everyone join the NFT wave! Guess we'll have to wait and see, huh?
