Lineage II's "Project Wolf" Gets A Deep Dive Video On The New Class, Returning Players, And Sped-Up Progression
New and returning players should find the new server more comfortable and accessible.
When Lineage II launches "Project Wolf" on April 15th, it'll be more than just a new class addition to the MMORPG. Sure, the new Varkas class capable of transforming into a werewolf is the main attraction, but a lot more is going on behind the scenes, too. In a new video, Lead Community Manager Rownen sits down with the team to talk inspiration behind the class, thoughts on new and returning players, and offers a glimpse of what an entire new server means for the game going forward.
On the design front, while it's easy to say that Lineage is "drawing inspiration" from werewolves in other media, the team has apparently focused on making sure their version of the beast stands out...but not too much. They still need to look like they belong in the world of Lineage II. Not only that, but the beast itself needs look massive without feeling sluggish, according to the developers. The team hopes that new players will love the addition, and they know existing players have been looking forward to the release since the class was added in Korea.
A new class always brings back some lapsed players. On that front, the new Project Wolf server is directly aimed at streamlining a number of systems and speeding up progression to get player into the action quickly. In fact, the devs say, "If you're watching this, you haven't quit, you're just taking a break." They feel this is the perfect time to come back. New players should also find things easier due to the server's unique rules. The server is "more simplified" and more "accessible." Having everyone start at the same level again certainly helps, too.
The new WOLF server operates like the previously released Aden server, so a lot of grind that the MMO is known for has been removed.
If you're planning on checking out the update, make sure to pre-register on the site for additional rewards come April 15th.
