Lineage II Aden Reveals How The Pet System Will Work On The "Solo Friendly" Servers
Players of Lineage II on the Aden server have a spiffy new pet system to look forward to, featuring cute and cuddly creatures that can be raised into ferocious armored beasts that can follow you into combat -- provided you don't let them out-level you by too much.
These pets can be obtained after players reach level 76. They'll need to talk to Pet Master Lemper to receive the "Appearance of the Disappeared Pet" quest. After completing said quest they'll then need to seek out Pet Master Atingo and challenge him. Defeating both Atingo and his pet, "The Sin Eater", will earn players a random pet necklace. It's untradeable, so you get what you get.
Once you have the necklace, you can use it to summon your pet outside of combat. That doesn't mean you can't take it into combat. That's the whole point. Just... uh... be aware that if you let your pet die, the game will punish you for it with a debuff called Pet Death Penalty. So, don't be a bad pet parent. (On the other hand, even if your pet dies, they can be re-summoned with full HP and MP and they don't lose XP after a death. So it's not all bad.)
Since Lineage II Aden's pets are intended to be more than just your average MMO pet, they all come with their own unique combat skills. Some have more than others, it seems. To obtain these skills, players will need to level up their pets or use pet skill books. They'll also have to keep the pets working hard at hunting and defeating monsters. Like Pokemon, these pets evolve, and can evolve twice. Although there are two different evolutionary paths for each.
If for some reason you have a pet you don't like, there's a solution for that as well. You can extract its life energy and get a Pet XP Crystal that can be used to grow another pet. The extracted pet disappears.
