Kakao Delays ArcheAge Launch While It Fixes "Issue In The Backend System"
Now scheduled for Friday launch; transferred player data not affected.
Hold your horses, or other mount of your choice, on that land rush for a little longer -- the (re-)launch of ArcheAge has been delayed. Originally scheduled for yesterday, December 1, the game will instead make its debut under the auspices of Kakao Games tomorrow, December 3, as it takes over publishing from gamigo.
Kakao Games broke the news today in a letter that stated the reason for the delay was "to ensure that the launch and the ongoing service of ArcheAge goes as smoothly as possible." That wasn't possible yesterday, due to an unresolved "issue in the backend system."
Kakao reassured players that the issue did not stem from a problem with data transfers and that players' game data is not affected.
Kakao announced that it would be taking over the publishing duty for XLGames' MMORPG from gamigo last month, and things have proceeded smoothly enough until this slight snag. Barring any further disruptions, both the free-to-play ArcheAge and sub-based ArcheAge: Unchained should go live at an as-yet-unannounced time tomorrow, which is surely the perfect timing that Kakao wanted, as it won't be going up against any other significant MMORPG releases!
