Is Gamigo’s Next MMO A Take On The Sundered Crown Saga?
The hints we have so far make it seem possible.
If you’ve been paying attention – and reading MMOBomb like you should - you know by now that gamigo has a new MMO in the works. You also know they’re being a bit shady about letting us know exactly what that game is. In fact, they seem to think that revealing the game is a game, making mysterious changes to their social media layout, dropping vague text, you get the idea. (And, yeah. We’re watching you, gamigo.) To prove this point, their social media spent part of their day teasing MMOBomb, and asking if we could figure out what it is.
Of course, we were doing the Always Online cast while this was happening and they hopped in there, so some of our viewers went right to work. By the time we were finished with the cast, viewer Obbi87 had thrown several links they’d dug up while looking at the updated Twitter profile pic and header, the art in the teaser trailer, and similar content.
So, what do we have? Well, let’s start with those social media changes. First off. We have the profile pic, a close-up of an individual in a cloak making mysterious “magic stuff” gestures with their hands. All you can see of the individual’s face are the eyes. Well, as it turns out, a very similar image – down to the length of the individual’s nails and the rings on their fingers, as well as a bit of background content – can be found in a character profile on the author site for M.S. Olney. Among the books listed on the site are the Sundered Crown Saga, The Empowered Ones series, and the sci-fi Terran Defenders books.
The character profile? Luxon Edioz, a young wizard in the Sundered Crown Saga who, along with his companions, hopes to save the world of Esperia from Dark Lord Danon.
Next up, we have the header. Okay, other than this being a fantasy castle/landscape image, I honestly don’t think there’s a lot to read into it. It’s a Shutterstock image titled “Fantasy landscape and unknown legend” by an artist named Juan.L. If you go to their page, you’ll see plenty of similar imagery. Although, it does give a pretty good indication of the type of setting we’re looking at and does tie into that of the Sundered Crown Saga.
Next up, we have the teaser trailer, titled “A World Torn Apart – Chapter 1: A Sacrifice”. At this point, I’m probably reaching – which is kind of the fun of all this. That said, a synopsis of the first book in the series, “Heir to the Sundered Crown”, talks about “a realm torn asunder by civil war” and mentions that our hero wizard Luxon will become “the wizard who would break the world, the man who would embrace death and live”.
The narration in the video, told from the perspective of a woman who, along with her family, is preparing to hunt demons before the demons attack her own home may have a few hints as well. First, there’s the hunting thing. Again, in the synopsis, a female character by the name of Sophia Cunning is mentioned. She’s the land’s greatest witch hunter. Depending on your fantasy world perspective, witches and demons aren’t always all that different.
Imagery-wise, there are really only two things to deal with in the video. The first is the thumbnail, which is a glowing book with a six-pointed star on it. A reverse image search of that gets you an article on a forbidden ancient text (Lesser Key of Solomon) which supposedly teaches super-human abilities and what I’m assuming is a high school presentation on myths and legends.
The second bit of imagery…the slowest moving eclipse ever…I found nothing.
Of course, gamigo is slowly teasing the game with other little image drops. One is a black and white picture of another book that our own Mike Byrne found in articles related to the Akashic Records. These are supposed to be a record of all events in the universe that have occurred throughout time…all time..as in even the future. Do with that what you will. I don’t know. (I’ll also note I’ve only been looking at all of this for a couple of hours.)
The tweeted images also contained another eclipse…which we found nothing on. As far as we can tell, the Sundered Crown books have nothing regarding an eclipse either. But neither Mike nor I have read them. (Kinda curious now, though.)
Finally, there’s this little tidbit in reply to one of our tweets to them. Honestly, it sounds a bit like a teaser for almost any MMO to me. That whole living in the world thing. But, Mike seems to think it might mean something, so I’ll drop it here for you as well.
We know!🌘

Of course, we could all be overthinking this and the team could have just grabbed a bunch of nifty images to work with while teasing the game. But we’d be a bit disappointed if that were the case. Of course, the game is supposedly coming "Soon". In which case, we should be hearing a lot more about it. It does seem, however, that there's a way for players to get more information -- if we call still images information -- more quickly. Gamigo is offering players a new bit of information for every retweet of the trailer posted on Twitter.
