Heroes & Generals Gets a New Render Engine
World War 2 wasn't just won by the soldiers. Dedicated support teams behind the lines kept things running smoothly. Their invisible contributions made a huge difference that was reflected on the battlefield for the victorious Allies.
Making a similar contribution to the war effort is a new render engine for Heroes & Generals. The "Engine Room" update increases frame rate by 20% on average, with 70% of players in the latest test seeing an improvement, according to a press release from Reto-Moto. If you're looking for the technical-speak on how it works, the new render engine is
the result of a complete rewrite of the render engine optimizing it for a modern dataflow by using advanced multi-threading techniques so it better utilizes multiple CPU-cores
The update also adds a new tone-mapping system to provide crisper colors and temporal anti-aliasing for a more stable image. One downside of the new render engine is that the game no longer supports DirectX 9 graphics cards, which "served as a hindrance to game performance."
You can get the skinny on the whole update on the Heroes & Generals site.
