Happy 24th Birthday, Ultima Online!
The game’s two-dozen year mark is celebrated with its 111th patch.
Sometimes, it’s hard to imagine any only game making a five-year mark much less more than 20 years, but Ultima Online has sailed right past that 20-year mark by another four years. That’s pretty sweet for UO players. The big day also happens to coincide with the game’s latest update, Publish 111. Okay, it was probably planned that way just a little, what with the update including anniversary gifts and everything. It’s also the Halloween event update, so there are goodies to be had
Anniversary-wise, players with accounts at least 30 days old who log in between now and October 15 will receive an anniversary token that can be redeemed for Opal-themed items. As for the Halloween content, players will be able to collect Jack o’ Lanterns and collect new Trick or Treat goodies.
The update also makes changes to pets, particularly the storage of pack animals and hirelings. The gist of the changes comes down to the use of the auto stable, which is not intended for players' personal use and rather just a temp storage when players are offline.
