GW2 Kicks Off Super Adventure Festival, Along With PvP Balance Patch And Doritos Contest
The Super Adventure Festival is back in Guild Wars 2, and that means it's time to dive into the Super Adventure Box. The game-within-a-game is the same as it has been in previous years, but if you need a refresher on how it all works, ArenaNet has a guide up on the GW2 site. In short, it's a send-up of console games from a few decades ago, a smash-'em-up platformer with levels, power-ups, boss battles, and variable difficulty modes -- and shiny loot if you collect enough Baubles.
There is one interesting twist this year, though it has nothing to do with the actual game. Every time you complete your Course Work: Super Adventure Festival meta-achievement, you'll be entered into a drawing to win a year's supply of Doritos. You'll have to be at least 18 or older to participate, and it's only available in limited territories, but if you're a Doritos fiend (like me), this might be enough to get you to log in and take another run at the SAB. The contest, and presumably the festival, run until April 26; complete rules can be found here.
Today's update also comes with a bunch of PvP changes, outlined in detail in this forum post from ArenaNet's Cal Cohen. As promised a few weeks ago, the meta-achievement requirements for mastery of the last few Living World chapters have also been reduced. You can read about those, and the rest of today's changes, in the patch notes on the forums.
