Gamigo Confirms Trove Will Go On, With "More Agile Development" As PC And Console Are Decoupled
Good news, Trove fans -- just like ArcheAge, your favorite game will continue!
Not that there should have been much concern, seeing as how Trove appears to be one of the former Trion Worlds' most well-populated games, but today the dev team confirmed the news on the Trove site. Geode phase 2 is just about finished, and the team will have more to share after the update launches later this year.
As for the health of the dev team as a whole, it's definitely gotten smaller -- and they paint that as a good thing. A smaller dev team enables a "more agile development structure," which will "empower our designers and engineers to team up on features that excite them and then bring those features to the game more quickly." One notable change is that PC and console versions of Trove will be decoupled, with updates coming sooner to the PC.
Part of that quote is probably true -- if your team is cut in half, you better believe you're more empowered since you're doing the work that other people used to do. That definitely gets you more power, but whether that's a good thing or not is debatable.
We're still awaiting word on the future of Rift, Defiance 2050, and especially Atlas Reactor, and we'll let you know when -- or if -- those games will continue under the gamigo banner.
