Surprising Nobody, Gamigo Announces Rift Shard Mergers, But You Choose Your New Home
Don’t think anyone’s surprised. Are we surprised?
Hey. We have Rift news. That may actually be the most surprising thing we’re going to say here. That news is that gamigo has decided to merge the shards in North America. The merges were announced today “as part of [gamigo’s] ongoing efforts to create a more vibrant and populated world for you to explore and conquer”. You know the drill. It’s so you have more people to play with, as is generally a necessity in an MMORPG.
Interestingly, it seems that instead of just squishing two or three servers together – as is generally done – gamigo has decided to leave the moving up to the players. Those on Faeblight, Hailol, or Seastone have until March 25 to pack up and move to another server. They get the choice of setting up shop on Deepwood, Laethys, Greybriar, or Wolfsbane.
The announcement does not indicate what happens if a player doesn’t make the move in time. Instead, it states that more information will be provided. Our guess would be that players who don’t move in time will have their server selected for them to ensure they’re off their old servers when they shut down.
If you want to be sure you go where you want to go, it’s probably best to get it done yourself.
