EU Guild Wars 2 Servers Rolled Back (UPDATE: EU Servers Down And Up Again)
Normally a bastion of stability, Guild Wars 2 suffered a rollback early this morning that had players losing several days' worth of progress. Massively Overpowered initially reported on the issue, which is only affecting EU-based servers, and has resulted in players losing progress going back to Saturday morning.
According to several threads across Reddit (main one here) and the official forums, the rollback was acknowledged by ArenaNet at about 9:30 a.m. Eastern this morning via Twitter, which links to a brief message on the GW2 site:
>We've received many reports of account rollbacks, and are aware of the issue. We've alerted the server team at ArenaNet, and they are working on a resolution.
We will provide updates as soon as we receive more information.
In the meantime, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.
Again, the rollback is only impacting EU servers at this time, though as an NA player, I'll admit to being a little nervous. And as a player who just got back into the game after several months away, I'm especially shaking my head at my poor timing.
UPDATE, May 12, morning: After being taken offline for several hours, the EU servers were re-opened earlier today, with progress being rolled back to "roughly 2:40 AM PT on May 11," according to a post on the forums. ArenaNet is working with players to restore lost items, and a form of compensation is also being planned.
UPDATE, May 12, afternoon: People are reporting that EU servers appear to be down again. We'll update when there's official word from ArenaNet.
UPDATE, May 12, later afternoon: And they're back!
