As Open Beta Issues Get Cleared Up, Throne And Liberty Announces Founder Packs Starting At $40
Not exactly the most inspired founder packs, in my opinion.
Open beta is underway for NCSoft's upcoming MMORPG Throne and Liberty and, as is usually the norm these days, there's been issues. On the server side of things our EU friends have been particularly impacted, with certain servers remaining totally offline for a while. Our Oceania friends are lamenting the lack of a specific server for them as connections to more remote servers is less than stellar. There's even been issues with PC players using controllers. Some of these issues have been resolved, some are still being worked on. Hey, that's beta, I guess.
Beta has also seen a little under 60K players on Steam, but I believe they may be limiting access a bit given the issues so we'll watch that number over the weekend.
While we received a breakdown of Throne and Liberty's monetization plans a few days ago, the team wasn't yet ready to reveal any planned founder packs at the time. Now we have the details of those packs and I'm kind of surprised to see the F2P game's packs start at a price of $40. Seems a little steep as the "cheapest" pack.
Three packs are available and are priced at $40, $70, and $100. All three packs offer a 5-day head start prior to the official September 17th launch date. The $40 bundle offers a three morph cosmetics, an amitoi, and a title. Spending $70 gets you all of those perks and the Shadow Knight Outfit, an additional amitoi, and 500 Lucent, the cash shop currency. If you want to shell out $100, you continue to get everything in the lesser bundles, but you'll also net the Radiant Spirit outfit, additional morphs, titles, and 1000 Lucent.
Remember, head start on Xbox will require a Game Pass membership, too.
Honestly, they're a little underwhelming, in my opinion, especially considering the price tags. You better like pink since it is all over both outfits and honestly they kind of look like cosmetics available in a few popular games, but maybe that's just me.
