Another War Thunder Player Leaks Classified Military Info On Forums
Great way to tank your military career.
Back in July, a War Thunder player provided technical documents about a British tank to prove a point on the game's forums. The somewhat serious, somewhat comedic news got picked up by pretty much every gaming site out there, including ours, leading us to think: Sure, it was a stupid thing to do but now that everyone knows how bad of an idea it is and the potential consequences of such an act, nobody will be dumb enough to do it again, right?
As it turns out, humanity never fails to surprise or disappoint us. MMO Fallout was the first to report (via the UK Defence Journal) that yet another forum-goer did the unthinkable. This time, it was a French Army tank crewman who provided info regarding the Leclerc main battle tank, discussing the turn rate of the turret of the tank, which he described as "the tank I was in."
War Thunder forum moderators stepped in to delete the posts, saying that “its not funny to leak classified Documents of modern equipment you put the lives of many on stake who work daily with the Vehicles!”
We look forward to the next time we can write about someone leaking classified military information on a video game's forums. If we hurry, we can still squeeze another one in before the end of the year, so hop to it, you men and women in uniform! (Actually, don't do this. Really.)
