Aion Announces New PvP System That Guarantees “A Level Playing Field For All Combatants”
The Hero System allows players to compete without a level limit or restrictions.
PvP’s been a big focus of NCSoft’s Aion for a very long time. The game started with it and – at least when I played last – it felt like it was the only endgame. It’s definitely something the game continues to focus on as the dev team announced the new Hero System. This system offers players a way to take part in PvP and more or less ensure a fair fight, no matter their level.
Of course, to do this, it means players won’t be taking their main character in. Instead, they’ll choose from a selection of Heroes, all with their own balanced stats and Stigma skill combos. They’ll also be fighting in smaller and more organized groups. This isn’t open-world PvP. Instead, it’s set in the Chaos Arena and allows for up to eight people. Players are matched randomly and they may even find themselves fighting against their own.
Each battle consists of three rounds and each round will have a different setting. Players will need to take advantage of the map to win, but that could prove to be a bit more difficult with the switch-ups. Each round also has treasure chests with items that might be of use during the fight.
To win a match, players will need to earn more points. Everyone starts out with 10,000 and can earn 1,000 for each kill. However, for every death, a player will lose 50 points. It may not seem like a lot to lose, but do remember it’s easier to die than it is to take someone else down. There’s also a bit of a sliding scale on the points in round three. Players who manage to take down someone who has won against several other players in previous rounds will earn even more points for that kill. Points can also be earned for killing monsters or collecting items. So there are plenty of opportunities if you take proper advantage of them. And, of course, there will be plenty of rewards for doing so.
