Havent played LOTRO in a while but before you were able to get turbine points (then in game currency) for free through various achivements/quests and they let you buy the expansions with turbine points. so you can obtain the expansions for free if you have the patience to grind it out.

Planetside 2 is a great game hopefully they can fix a lot of the bugs and performance issues by the release date
