Top 8 MMORPGs To Play On PlayStation

We live in an age where MMORPGs aren't just limited to the PC. Consoles like the PlayStation have a plethora of MMO titles available to play at the push of a button as well. Here are our Top 8 MMORPGs you should take a look at if you want to play an MMO on your PlayStation.

Final Fantasy XIV

Available on PS4 & PS5

Final Fantasy XIV is widely regarded as one of the best MMORPGs out there. It's got years of content, plenty of character customization, and a friendly, welcoming community who are often very giving of time and resources to new players. If you're looking for an MMO to play on the PlayStation 4 or 5, this is where I'd start.

The Elder Scrolls Online

Available on PS4 & PS5

It's all about the adventure in The Elder Scrolls Online. Explore Tamriel at your own pace. Choose where you want to start and where you want to go next since the entire open world scales to you. PlayStation players may be more familiar with The Elder Scrolls series than some of the other IPs on this list, so if you're a fan of any of those games, The Elder Scrolls Online brings that universe into a huge open-world setting full of adventure and friends.

DC Universe Online

Available on PS4 (PS5 Version expected later in 2023)

Bring your own superhero to life in DC Universe Online. Full of iconic DC characters, you can customize the look and powerset of your very own superhero in DCUO. There are a ton of options to choose from when creating your character, then patrol the streets and take out enemies with your newfound superpowers.

Star Trek Online

Available on PS4 (PS4 version playable on PS5, but some features may be missing)

Star Trek Online has some of the best spaceship combat you can find. The ground combat, well, that's another story, but they do space very well. For huge Trek fans, STO is the closest we can come to living in the Star Trek universe. As you level up you get new abilities and new ships. Make your way through the ranks of Starfleet on the PlayStation 4.

Black Desert Online

Available on PS4 (PS4 version playable on PS5, but some features may be missing)

Many would say that Black Desert Online is the prettiest MMO currently available. Sure, we've got some good-looking UE5 games coming, but for now Black Desert Online is the gold standard of how an MMORPG can look. The action combat makes for dynamic, visceral encounters, and the world is just waiting for you to explore on the PlayStation 4.

Neverwinter

Available on PS4 (PS4 version playable on PS5, but some features may be missing)

Neverwinter draws heavily from the lore and mechanics of Dungeons & Dragons. Players create characters from a variety of races and classes, each with their own unique abilities and traits. The game features the standard D&D classes such as clerics, wizards, rogues, and fighters, each with their own distinct playstyle and abilities. You can explore this D&D world on the PlayStation 4.

Trove

Available on PS4 (PS4 version playable on PS5, but some features may be missing)

I'm redownloading Trove onto my PC as I type this. It's one of my personal favorites to jump into from time to time. I love the class system and the zany voxel-based world that provides a fun sandbox of exploration, combat, and building. It may not be my forever MMO home, but the times I do jump back into it are always good ones.

Warframe

Available on PS4 & PS5

If you're looking for fast-paced action that's a blend of corridor shooter with a splash of open-world goodness, then Warframe should be a game you check out on the PlayStation 4 or 5. Choose your Warframe class, then do battle with countless enemies all there for one purpose; for you to slaughter.

And that's our list of the Top 8 MMORPGs you should play on the PlayStation. Which one is your favorite to play on the console? Did we miss your favorite MMO on this list? Let us know what you're playing in the comments.
