Zombie Studios announces Phantom Army
It only took a couple of releases for me to figure out Zombie Studios development cycle. The studio's first major title, Blacklight Tango Down, did mediocrely as an indie-priced shooter. But Zombie's rework and subsequent re-release as Blacklight Retribution turned the franchise into a Free-to-Play FPS powerhouse. Now Zombie Studios is at it again, taking elements from their second shooter, Special Forces: Team X, and giving the series a fresh coat of F2P.
The result is Phantom Army, a new third person shooter which trumpets its fluid movements, cover-based combat, and randomized arena layouts. Below sits the game's teaser trailer:
Pretty nondescript right? The game seems to almost knowingly touch on our "hey this feels like TF2" bone. Also, why do they call these guys 'phantoms' if all they care about is the body count? Wouldn't phantoms want to disappear and appear without being noticed? Seems like a huge body count would be grounds for drawing suspicious inquiries.
