XBox Showcase: You Can Finally Name Your Ship In Sea Of Thieves: Season 7, New Rewards & Adventures Coming Soon
Give it whatever name you want...as long as you leave out the profanity.
Sea of Thieves players has been waiting for over four years to name their ships on the high seas, and finally, in the upcoming July 21 "Captaincy Update" for Season 7, players can call their ships whatever they want as long as they keep out all the profanity.
Revealed in the "Captains of Adventure" trailer from the Xbox Showcase, developer Rare put together a jolly sing-along to explain that players can "finally become a captain." From naming the ship to styling up the captain's quarters, just about everything in this update focuses on player ships and giving them personality. Outside of that massive highlight for longtime fans, players can earn new unique rewards from their voyages across the seas.
The update reveal was highly positive on YouTube, with one fan saying "everything I have ever asked for," and another remarked that "the game just keeps on getting better and better!" Sea of Thieves was in a messy place back when it launched in 2018, so much so that the Captaincy Update moved from being the first post-launch patch to now seeing the light of day in 2022. It's remarkable to see the love it's getting now after its rocky early years. Hopefully, Rare can keep the momentum going.
