Yoshi-P Will No Longer Be Part Of Square Enix’s Board Of Directors, And We’re Sure He Couldn’t Be Happier
Don’t worry, he’s still in charge of Final Fantasy XIV.
Recently, Square Enix announced changes to its management structure and, according to reports, they’ve started moving ahead with them. This is good news for Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida, who has served on the board since 2018, despite not really wanting to do so. The changes mean he’s being let out of the role. That doesn’t mean he’s having all executive responsibility removed, however, as he will be keeping his executive officer title and be joining the executive management committee next month, according to a statement made to GamesRadar+.
For those who might be worried, this isn’t a negative thing. As Dot Esports pointed out, Yoshi-P stated during a discussion with Dutch newspaper NRC that he didn’t want to be on the board. As he put it, “it’s much more fun to just make games”. Really, who can argue with that? It’s probably easier to make games when you’re not having to worry about the kinds of things a Board of Directors has to worry about too.
