Live Letter Scheduled As Yoshi-P Outlines The Timeline For Work Being Done To FFXIV’s Dawntrail Benchmark
The process is a bit involved.
As we all know, Yoshi-P and the Final Fantasy XIV team took people’s complaints about the Dawntrail benchmark test seriously and got to work on a fix. At this point, some of you may be wondering where that fix is at. It turns out, it’s more than just a few tweaks here and there and based on the information Yoshi-P provided today, they’re about halfway through the process.
Said process includes reconfiguring the character creation menu’s environmental factors – lighting, weather, and the like. The majority of that was finished on April 27, but there’s still more to do. That said, Yoshi-P plans on doing his final inspection of that work tomorrow, May 3.
That, however, doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing the update immediately after, as there are other things they’ve decided to address as well, fishing bugs and data issues. This is stuff they plan on being done with on May 15, with Yoshi-P beginning his review of it the next day. They estimate about five business days for that part of the process. For now, they’re planning on dropping the updated benchmark on May 23 at the earliest.
This is on top of Yoshi-P and Creative Business Unit 3 both getting a title and division name change, now going as "Studio Head" of "Creative Studio 3."
There are two things worth noting here. First, as players took the time to offer feedback on the test, they’re really putting effort into addressing as much as they can. Second, the changes made aren’t just being applied to the benchmark, but to the MMORPG itself, beginning with Dawntrail.
Hopefully, it all goes smoothly for them, as the dev team already has a busy schedule. In fact, May 16, the day Yoshi-P will begin his review of the changes is also the day they’ll be hosting the next Letter from the Producer Live. The stream will focus on job changes coming in Dawntrail and is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 am Pacific time. (Grab your caffeinated beverage of choice.) You don’t have to worry about translations on this one, they’ll be live.
