Yoshi-P Gets Immersed In An Eight Hour FFXIV Inspired D&D Session
Yes, Naoki Yoshida did in fact play a black mage, no surprise there.
On May 30, NGC–a Japanese streaming studio known for streaming on Twitch–hosted a Final Fantasy XIV tabletop RPG for four players that included the Final Fantasy XIV director and producer himself, Naoki Yoshida. Yoshi-P ended up becoming immersed in the Dungeons and Dragons session set in Eorzea until nearly 4am. In addition to Yoshi-P was Alphinaud voice actor Shinnosuke Tachibana.
While the eight hour long stream was conducted in Japanese, a fan on Twitter named Kageyama Satsuki translated some of the stream highlights on Twitter. Satuski explained that Yoshi-P played a “gil-obsessed lady lalafell black mage adventurer” while Tachibana played an Au Ra warrior named Hirvana Torachivana who continued to suggest time and time again to “just kill em all.”
The campaign started with escorting a chocobo carriage towards the outskirts of Ul’dah where a fledgling adventurer who “aggro’d too many marmots and an adamantoise” ran to the party asking for help. It was here that the Yoshi-P’s money-hungry lalafell said, “How much gil you got?”
Satsuki went on to explain that "The players were so happy and eager to learn more of the little storyline,” and how everyone was “excitedly talking about the game, despite it being 3:30am." Perhaps this will inspire more Final Fantasy 14 tabletop adventures in the future!
