XDefiant To Bring Back Classic Call Of Duty Prestige System, No Skill Based Matchmaking Outside Of Ranked Play
XDefiant is looking to go one-on-one with Call of Duty.
Following a couple of delays in 2023, we're still waiting on a 2024 release date for the upcoming Ubisoft FPS XDefiant, but that hasn't stopped the devs from speaking about the upcoming shooter's features.
Executive Producer Mark Rubin took to Twitter to explain that XDefiant will feature a Prestige system similar to that of classic Call of Duty titles.

XDefiant is looking to have no seasonal Prestiges or level caps, and more Prestiges will be added as the game continues throughout the years. After all, unlike CoD's yearly releases of new games, XDefiant is a single game intended to be updated and last for years.
Oddly enough, however, XDefiant will not utilize skill-based matchmaking outside of Ranked play and the new player experience. That means normal play will be a mix of different skill levels all playing together. We'll wait and see how that plays out, but I can only imagine a change to that in the future.
For now, we just wait on yet another delayed Ubisoft project to hit this year. It will be very interesting to see if XDefiant can compete with Call of Duty.
