World Of Tanks: Mercenaries Adds A Limited-Time Mech-Battle Mode
If tanks aren't cool enough for you, how about mechs? World of Tanks' console cousin, World of Tanks: Mercenaries, will soon let players take part in Core Breach, a 4v4 game mode that pits American mechs versus Soviet mechs, "equipped with lasers, missiles, machine guns, and a whole lot of health." When a mech "dies," it will explode with "a core breach explosion capable of levelling city blocks."
Why mechs in World of Tanks, you might ask (I did)? It turns out that Wargaming Chicago-Baltimore's studio is the former Day 1 Studios, which developed the MechAssault series for Microsoft. In addition to Core Breach, the Winter Games are underway, offering bonus loot for competing ops, and there's a new German tank destroyer, the Javelin Krupp-Steyr Waffenträger, with the "hellraising" tank Skullcap coming on the 28th.
Core Breach runs from Jan. 29 to Feb. 4. Learn more about that and all the new stuff in World of Tanks: Mercenaries on the game's website.
